About

Quietsite is a browser extension for anyone who opens a distracting site out of habit and wants a gentler stopping point than a blank error page. It blocks the sites, paths, or keywords that pull you off course, then shows a block page built from your own reasons instead of an ad or an upgrade prompt.

Blocking works by full site, a specific path such as youtube.com/shorts, or a keyword, with one-tap presets for common feeds like YouTube Shorts, Reddit Popular, and X Home. A schedule confines blocking to set hours and days, and timed focus sessions of 25, 50, or 90 minutes add an allow-only mode for deep work, with a live countdown in the toolbar.

The block page itself is designed in Studio: six mood gradients (Dusk, Dawn, Forest, Mono, Ocean, Ember), or a custom photo with blur, dim, text color, and alignment controls, plus optional content blocks for daily artwork, poems, or on-this-day notes. Strict mode adds a PIN for changing settings, locks a focus session in place, and adds escalating friction to overrides.

Every count and setting is kept in the browser's own storage, and site names and URLs are not collected. The free tier covers unlimited blocking, allow-only mode, scheduling, focus sessions, the full Studio, content blocks, and import and export; Quietsite Pro is a one-time $14.99 upgrade that adds daily time limits, strict mode, escalating friction, per-site block pages, and design publishing.

A block page, not a billboard

The moment a blocked site would load, Quietsite shows a full block page with the site's icon, a line of text you wrote for yourself, and a single Take me back button. No ads, no upsells, no rating prompts.

Block sites, paths, or keywords

Block a whole site, a specific path such as youtube.com/shorts or reddit.com/r/popular, or a keyword. One-tap presets cover common feeds; daily time budgets and hour-and-day scheduling apply per site.

Timed focus sessions

Start a 25, 50, or 90 minute focus session with an allow-only mode for deep work and a live countdown in the toolbar, so only the sites you choose stay reachable while it runs.

Studio backgrounds

Pick from six mood gradients (Dusk, Dawn, Forest, Mono, Ocean, Ember) or upload a custom photo with blur, dim, text color, and alignment controls. Optional content blocks add daily artwork, a poem, or an on-this-day note.

Strict mode

A PIN protects settings changes, locks an active focus session in place, and adds escalating friction to overrides, for anyone who wants blocking they cannot easily talk themselves out of.

Counts stay local

Block counts for today, the last seven days, and all time are kept locally in the browser. The extension works immediately upon installation, and blocking lists can be exported or imported.
